NEW DELHI: Meghalaya Police has secured seven-day transit remand of the men arrested for allegedly killing an Indore businessman in the northeastern state, a senior officer said on Monday.
They will be taken to Meghalaya's capital, Shillong, he added.
"The men were presented before the CJM (chief judicial magistrate) judge, and Shillong Police got 7-day transit remand. The fourth accused, Anand, is being brought to Indore; all four will be taken by Shillong Police," additional DCP (crime) Rajesh Dandotiya of Indore Police told news agency ANI.
Earlier, in a massive twist in the case, Meghalaya Police revealed that Raja Raghuvanshi, the businessman from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was killed by the trio - Raj Singh Kushwaha, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan - for which they were hired by none other than Raghuvanshi's wife Sonam. She surrendered in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur.
Sonam and Raja, who got married on May 11, left for Meghalaya on May 20 for their honeymoon. They went "missing" on May 23 while vacationing in the state's Sohra area.
The couple's sudden disappearance caught national attention. After the man's body was found in a gorge on June 2, his family demanded an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The woman remained missing until her surrender.
