HMPV Virus Cases Live Updates: 10-month-old child detected with HMPV virus, first cases in Assam this season
HMPV Virus Cases Live Updates: Human metapneumovirus (HMPV), a flu-like virus causing mild respiratory infections, is seeing a rise in cases in China, but experts stress there is no cause for alarm. “Protecting yourself by being in well-ventilated (spaces), covering your mouth when you cough (and) washing your hands will all help,” advised John Tregoning, professor at Imperial College London. The WHO states China's infection levels are within normal winter ranges, with no health system strain reported. In India, Chhattisgarh formed a technical committee to monitor HMPV infections, while Gujarat reported its second confirmed case. UP deputy CM Brajesh Pathak assured, “There is no reason to panic.” Himachal Pradesh remains vigilant with no reported cases.Globally, WHO reports HMPV is circulating seasonally alongside influenza and RSV. Preventive measures, including rest, hygiene, and avoiding crowded areas, are recommended to limit the virus's spread. Follow this live blog for more updates.
