SRINAGAR: One person was killed and another injured as Pakistani troops heavily shelled Indian positions in Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.
The Pakistani shelling in Kargil, Drass and Batalik sectors continued on Sunday morning. More than 300 artillery and mortar shells hit the mountains surrounding Kargil town. Indian troops returned the artillery and mortar fire, the sources said.
A labourer was killed and another seriously wounded when a shell exploded at a quarry in Chumchuk area on the outskirts of the town on Saturday night.
Pakistani troops targeted Khurbatang and Baroo villages in Kargil where airport and radio station are located.
However, no damage was caused to the airport and the radio station though many shells exploded in their vicinity.
