Health ministry directs all Central government hospitals to go paperless

NEW DELHI: In a move to ensure transparency and good governance, the health ministry has directed all Central government hospitals to go paperless.

Hospitals have been asked to use E-office and maintain all files digitally, an official source said.

The health ministry is also organising special training sessions to implement the same, he said.

“It has been decided that all new files will be accepted in electronics mode only from July 1. No file which is being moved for the first time will be accepted in the physical mode and all sections are required to submit these files through e-office only,” the official said.

Most Central government hospitals have also started training for their employees to be able to seamlessly adapt to the new system.

Apart from Central government hospitals like all AllMS, RML Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital, health ministry and its allied institutions are also expected to move to paperless mode from July 1.

“The idea is to have transparency and efficiency in the system. Digitisation of records will help in a big way in long term,” the official said.
