“Jai Hind sir,” said Pradeep Kurulkar greeting the judge during his video hearing at a special court in Pune on July 7. It’s not an unusual greeting, especially among the armed forces. But Kurulkar, 59, using such a patriotic greeting was more than a little ironic, given that he was arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) under espionage charges on May 3.
