HC didn't resolve main dispute in Ayodhya case: Swami Swarupanand Saraswati

MUMBAI: Observing that the main dispute in the Ayodhya issue was not yet resolved, Swami Swarupanand Saraswati, President of 'Ramjanmabhoomi Punaruddhar Samiti', today said the entire land should be handed over to Hindus so that a Ram temple could be built there.
"The verdict given by the Allahabad high court does not solve the main dispute. Despite observing that the land was Lord Ram's birth place, the court divided it into three parts between Hindus and Muslims," he said at a press conference here.
A three-member bench of Justices SU Khan, Sudhir Agarwal and DV Sharma of high court had last year ruled that there be a three-way division of the disputed land - one-third for the Sunni Waqf Board, one-third for the Nirmohi Akhara and one-third to the party for 'Ram Lalla'.
Ramjanmabhoomi Punaruddhar Samiti has approached the Supreme Court earlier this year challenging the High Court order.
"The disputed land belongs to Hindus and is the birth place of Lord Ram. How can Hindus and Muslims divide the land and build a temple and a masjid so close to each there. There is bound to be tension and constant fights," Swarupanand said.
He however added that the temple should be built by residents of Ayodhya, and not any of the political parties which have vested interests in the issue.
