CHANDIGARH: Lt General K J Singh, Army commander, Western Command, has said that every effort would be made to train Gujjar youths for recruitment in the Army. During a review of the security grid of Jammu sector on Wednesday, Lt Gen Singh said the Army would help Gujjar children in getting proper education. A recruitment rally is also proposed to be held in Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
On the occasion, the Army commander also distributed books and stationery items to the needy students of Gujjar community. Gujjar leaders thanked the initiative of the Army authorities and described it as the first-ever interaction of the force with their community.
Meanwhile, Anita Singh, the consort of the Army commander and regional president Family Welfare Organisation of Western Command, inaugurated a shopping complex in Janglot designed to meet the daily needs of the soldiers and their families.
