Gopalkrishna Gandhi is opposition's nominee for vice president: Report

NEW DELHI: Former

West Bengal

governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi will be the joint opposition's nominee for the post of vice president in the elections for the post on August 5, sources told the Press Trust of India on Tuesday.

The news comes even as a meeting is underway of several

non-NDA

parties in New Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting has been called to specifically decide on a vice presidential nominee.

Sources told TOI on Monday that some in the opposition did not rule out the possibility of Dalit leader Prakash Ambedkar's nomination for vice president.
