Goa’s Zuari Bridge to get Eiffel-inspired observatory towers with revolving restaurant, art gallery

NEW DELHI: In what is set to become a major tourist attraction in Goa, the new Zuari Bridge will feature Eiffel Tower-inspired observatory towers with a viewing gallery.

Visitors to Goa will soon be able to enjoy panoramic views from the top of the bridge. With a revolving restaurant and an art gallery, the project is designed to serve as a global tourist attraction and is poised to become a landmark in Goa’s rich touristic landscape, the ministry of road transport and highways said on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, all necessary approvals have been obtained for the observatory towers atop the bridge, and road transport minister Nitin Gadkari will perform the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday. The 125-metre-high towers will feature capsule lifts, an art gallery, a cafeteria, and walkway bridges on both sides over the sea.

The project will be operated by a private concessionaire for 50 years, with zero financial burden on the govt. The estimated cost of the project is ₹270 crore, and it is expected to be completed within five years. Govt will receive a share of the revenue generated, as per the terms of the contract. The observatory towers will be built between pylons on two pile cap foundations. There is also provision for parking facilities on either side of the bridge.

“Each tower will rise to a height of 125 meters, featuring shaft dimensions of 8.5 x 5.5 meters. The upper levels will house two expansive floors with minimum dimensions, equipped with capsule lifts for panoramic ascents. A dedicated walkway bridge with a 7.5-meter carriageway will be constructed on either side in the marine portion, allowing seamless tourist access,” the ministry said.
