'Ghar ghar ki kahani': Jagan Reddy on legal battle with sister Sharmila over property

YSRCP chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday downplayed his petition in NCLT seeking to reverse a share transfer done by his sister and APCC president YS Sharmila, calling it "ghar ghar ki kahani". Reddy also accused chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and some media houses of using this issue to divert public attention from alleged diarrhea deaths in Vizianagaram.

Reddy's petition in NCLT, which came out in the public domain on Wednesday, accuses his sister Sharmila of illegally transferring shares of Saraswati Power and Industries held by him and his wife Bharathi on her and their mother Vijayamma's names. The feud between Jagan and Sharmila has taken a new turn with this legal battle, and the petition filed last month in the Hyderabad Bench of the NCLT has been taken up and posted to November for further hearing.

"Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, I'm asking you and all of you. One thing. Don't you have any problems in your family? All these are ghar ghar ki kahani (happenings in every household). All these are regular issues in every family and (you are) blowing these issues out of proportion. Stop all these things," he said.

Reddy accused the Naidu government of neglecting diarrhea in the district, which he claimed resulted in 14 deaths. He further said he was praying to God that the Naidu-led government in the state should have some wisdom and stop indulging in diversion politics.

In response to Jagan Mohan Reddy's comments, Sharmila said that while disputes in families are natural, dragging mother and sister to court is not normal. She expressed her intention to resolve disputes harmoniously within four walls, but pointed out that Jagan had taken the matter to court, which is not a usual occurrence in every household.

Meanwhile, CM Naidu slammed Reddy over the latter moving the NCLT against his sister, questioning what conditions he would put to serve people if he puts conditions to give property to his sister and mother. Naidu said he never expected to do politics with such people.
