AHMEDABAD: A local court on Friday rejected the bail plea of Sajal Jain, the prime accused in the gangrape case on New Year eve.
Additional sessions judge B S Parikh rejected the plea for regular bail and also turned down his application for four-day temporary bail, which he sought to appear for his MBA examinations scheduled on February 22, court sources said on Friday night.

Rejecting the plea, the judge observed that an "anti-social offence has been registered against him and investigation into the case are at a crucial stage".
Public prosecutor Akhil Desai had opposed the bail on the grounds that the accused was allegedly involved in a very heinous offence and two persons were still absconding.
Sajal and his four friends had allegedly gangraped a city girl in a hotel on New Year Eve this year and the victim later committed suicide a week later. She had left a note implicating Sajal and his friends as culprits.
The case had generated a lot of public outcry and police had come in for flak in the initial stages of investigation.
Police has arrested 10 persons of whom five are on bail.
