DHARAMSHALA: Annual conference of Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives India Ltd (FTCI) was held on Friday. Upcoming projects and policies of societies on national level were reviewed.The proposed projects of FTCI include launch of Tibetan mall and hotel in Bangalore, a BPO in Bylakuppe and Mungod, establishing of banking services in Tibetan cooperative societies and introduction of daily AC buses from Bylakuppe to Bangalore.

Gangtok.FTCI chairman Pema Delek said the federation undertakes multi-development activities in the settlements to contribute towards attainment of social and economic betterment of the settlers. "Major activities of the FTCI are supply of agriculture input on credit, procurement, storage, collective marketing and advancement of loan," he said.Federation CEO Tashi Wangdue outlined future projects of the society for bringing economic stability in the Tibetan settlements.The conference, which will conclude on Saturday evening, was inaugurated by PM of Tibetan government-in-exile Lobsang Sangay on Friday at Gangkyi auditorium. He lauded the works conducted by FTCI and stressed on importance of legal complications that need to be looked into before the start of any project.On the launch of a book about completion of 50 years of initiatives and achievements, the Dalai Lama`s office also send a message to FTCI stating that federation is the backbone of Tibetan settlements in India and it should continuously strive to benefit to the poorer segment of community.FTCI is one of the most prominent societies within the Tibetan community that helps 63,000 Tibetans in India and employs more than 500; 15% of the profits go to central Tibetan administration.
