States where NDA won all or almost all seats and expects to do it again
Gujarat | Total seats: 26
It’s Narendra Modi’s home, so BJP expects to take all 26 seats for the third time, but with bigger vote shares and leads. Congress, meanwhile, is counting defections and haggling over seats with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). BJP’s vote share rose from 59.1% in 2014 to 63.1% in 2019, and all of its candidates won by one-lakh-plus margins, including three of the five highest margins in India — CR Patil from Navsari (6.9 lakh), Ranjan Bhatt from Vadodara (5.9 lakh) and Amit Shah from Gandhinagar (5.6 lakh). This time, it wants to win all 26 seats with five-lakh-plus margins.
