Four schoolgirls mowed down by truck in Kerala, CM Vijayan condoles 'tragic' deaths

PALAKKAD: Four school students died after a truck hit them in Kalladikode, Palakkad district, on Thursday evening. Several other students were injured. The girls attended a nearby higher secondary school and were walking home when the accident happened.

The incident occurred on the Palakkad-Kozhikode National Highway at Panayampadam near Kalladikode. A cement truck lost control, striking the students before overturning. The injured were taken to local hospitals.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan described the Kalladikode incident as “shocking” and “tragic.” He promised coordinated government support for the injured students' medical care and added, “A detailed investigation will be conducted, and necessary action will be taken.” Further details are awaited.
