NEW DELHI: Four policemen were killed in a terrorist attack on Wednesday in South Kashmir's Shopian district.

According to police, an escort party of the DSP headquarters came under attack at Arhama village. In this incident four cops sustained gunshot wounds and were evacuated to nearby hospital for medical attention. However all the four injured policemen succumbed to their injuries.

Soon after the incident whole area has been cordoned off to nab the terrorists.

The attack on the police party came after two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists, including Altaf Ahmed Dar alias Altaf Kachroo, one of the oldest surviving terrorist, were killed in South Kashmir's Anantnag district.

The martyred policemen were identified as Constable Ishfaq Ahmad Mir, Constable Javaid Ahmad Bhat, Constable Mohammad Iqbal Mir and SPO Adil Manzoor Bhat, police said.
