Four per cent Muslim quota case is pending in Supreme Court: Shabbir Ali
HYDERABAD: Advisor to the state government Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Wednesday said the 4% Muslim reservation case is pending in the Supreme Court, and a Constitutional Bench of the apex court will hear it.
“Until the Supreme Court gives its final verdict, neither Union home minister Amit Shah nor any other BJP leader can scrap the 4% Muslim reservation in the two Telugu states,” said Shabbir Ali.
He made it clear that the 4% Muslim quota was not given based on religion but on socio-economic backwardness, and not the entire community but only 14 identified groups were getting the benefit due to their backwardness established by the BC Commission’s report.
“Also, the 4% Muslim quota was within the prescribed 50% ceiling cap by the Supreme Court as per the Indra Sawhney Judgment. Most importantly, the Muslim quota was given separately without reducing the reservation percentage of other communities,” he said.
It has become a habit for Amit Shah to speak against 4% Muslim reservation on his every visit to Telangana. Even Amit Shah knows that the BJP will not come to power in Telangana in near future. He is only trying to mislead the people with promises like scrapping the Muslim quota.
Shabbir Ali once again warned that he would file a petition in the court against Amit Shah and others seeking orders to restrict their comments on the 4% Muslim quota, which is pending in the Supreme Court.
About the CAA notification released by the Centre, Shabbir Ali said that with just a week left to release the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP Government has issued the notification for the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
This is nothing but a political stunt by the BJP to implement an unconstitutional four-year-old law. Muslims should not panic as the Congress has already announced its opposition to CAA, NRC and NPR, he said.
As the then MP, Revanth Reddy protested in Parliament when this unconstitutional law was passed. He said he would issue a fresh statement on the issue if required.
Shabbir Ali also welcomed the decisions taken by the Telangana Cabinet on Tuesday of forming 16 new corporations for the OBCs, SCs, and STs. The proposed corporations would benefit the lakhs of poor and suppressed communities who remained neglected under the previous BRS govt. Funds would be allocated to the new corporations for the implementation of welfare schemes.
