GURDASPUR: Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has expressed concern over incident of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib, the second one within a fortnight.
On Tuesday night, some miscreants had torn pages of Guru Granth Sahib and left the holy book on the floor of Baba Jeevan Gurdwara in Bohoja village in Gurdaspur district. Jathedar, who visited Bohoja village gurdwara on Wednesday, said he had issued directions that no gurdwara be left unattended any time of the day. He said Akal Takht was taking the issue of desecration seriously and fresh guidelines would soon be issued to prevent such incidents in future.
Meanwhile, members of Satkar Committee have taken the bir to Gobindwal Sahib to perform the rituals. A case has been registered, however, no arrests have been made.
Around 15 days back, some unidentified persons had thrown saroops of Guru Granth Sahib into a well in Udhampur village near Morinda in Ropar district.
