NEW DELHI: At age 27, the newly minted MP from Rohtak and Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hoodas son, Deepender already has a sheaf of plans for his constituency.
Education and power seem to top his list as he makes the transition from a job in the US to the heat and dust of Indian politics.
He is due to take oath in the winter session of Parliament and he has been busy putting together a priority list of sorts.

"There is a real opportunity for Rohtak to leapfrog into the 21st Century with a bang. I have a firm plan for the development of my constituency," says Deepender.
Being his fathers son may have definitely helped him get that prized Congress ticket and Deepender seems keen to make the most of it. Education, rural and urban infrastructure and power are his key concerns.
He is moved by "glaring gaps" between rural and urban folks in terms of access to education. "I will spend a large part of my MP funds for rural education. I will also try and augment infrastructure for agriculture including better water supply and irrigation methods," says Deepender, who as a student of MD University, Rohtak has seen a lot of the area.
The ideas gained when he got a taste of local level politics during his fathers election campaign were supplemented by very different experiences with his stints at Reliance, Infosys and American Airlines in the US.

After completing a Bachelors degree in technology, Deepender took up assignments at Reliance and Infosys and then enrolled for an MBA programme with Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Was he imposed on the people of Rohtak?
"Who wants to quit the comfort of a cushy job," retorts Deepender adding: "I did a lot of soul searching before taking the final call and deciding not to get lost in the glamour of corporate America." On personal front, the paranthafreak bachelor hasnt yet made up his mind on marriage. He has Rohtak to think of for now.
