Following Sikh leadership’s outburst, Pak goes into defensive mode
AMRITSAR: Pakistan government goes into defensive mode following Sikh leadership’s outburst over handing over the management of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib from Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) to the Project Management Unit (PMU), Kartarpur Sahib - constituting all the Muslim officials, stating that the spirit of PMU has not been understood.

PMU will look after the day to day affairs, management and maintenance of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib.
Aamir Hashmi, the spokesperson of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) , under whose administration PMU Kartarpur Sahib has been set up, told TOI on Thursday “The spirit of PMU Kartarpur Sahib has been misunderstood or the propaganda is made to malign Kartarpur Sahib project”.
If sources are to be believed, the Pak government has set up PMU Kartarpur Sahib owing to its strategic location which is close to Indo Pak international border.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has called upon Pakistan to reverse its arbitrary decision to deprive the Sikh minority community its right to manage affairs of Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, it says “This unilateral decision by Pakistan is highly condemnable and runs against the spirit of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor as also the religious sentiments of the Sikh community at large”.
