Fodder scam case: SC agrees to list CBI plea challenging bail granted to Lalu Prasad

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday agreed for early hearing on pleas filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challenging the bail granted Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad in connection with multi-crore fodder scam.

The former Bihar chief minister was granted bail by the Jharkhand high court in April 2022.

A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and justices Sanjay Karol and Manoj Misra agreed to list the matter on August 25 after additional solicitor general SV Raju, appearing for the CBI, urged the bench for an early listing of the plea.

Lalu has been convicted in five fodder scam cases pertaining to the fraudulent withdrawal of money from Doranda, Deoghar, Dumka and Chaibasa treasuries in Jharkhand.
