Tragedy claims five lives
Five Army personnel lost their lives during a security forces' confrontation with terrorists. The clash, occurring in the Baji Maal area of Dharmsal in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, took the lives of two officers and three soldiers.

According to the police, a confrontation ensued in Dharmsal between terrorists and the combined forces of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police. This incident occurred as a result of a cordon-and-search operation.

According to official reports, a member of the Army serving in the 63 Rashtriya Rifles was among those who sacrificed their lives, while three personnel from the 9 Para unit sustained injuries and were subsequently transported to the hospital.

Indian Army’s anti-terror effort
The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps informed that the terrorists are injured, surrounded and ongoing operations are underway as part of the anti-terror effort in the Kalakote area of Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities reported that the terrorists in the Bajimaal encounter location appear to be foreign nationals and have sought shelter in a place of worship.

Rise in terror incidents
Over the last 18 months, there has been a notable surge in terrorist activities in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. On November 17, security forces successfully neutralized a terrorist in a confrontation within the Guller Behrote area of Rajouri district.

Infiltration foiled, heroic sacrifice
The Army successfully foiled an infiltration attempt from across the border in the Degwar area of Poonch district on August 7, leading to the death of a terrorist. An anti-terror operation in the Kesari hills of Rajouri district on May 5 resulted in the tragic loss of five Army soldiers.

Fatal clashes in J&K
A total of 23 casualties occurred, comprising seven terrorists and nine security personnel have been reported in Rajouri since January this year. Meanwhile, in Poonch district, 15 terrorists and five security personnel lost their lives. Additionally, three terrorists were eliminated in Reasi district.

Fatalities due to border terrorism
Officials report that since the beginning of this year, a total of 46 fatalities have been documented in incidents related to terrorism in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, as well as the nearby Reasi district.
