NEW DELHI: A massive fire broke out on Friday afternoon in the Khanabal area of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, ravaging multiple residential houses and a mosque. According to officials, the fire began in one of the homes before spreading to neighboring buildings, including the mosque, causing extensive damage.
Emergency services responded quickly as local police and fire teams rushed to the scene, joined by residents attempting to contain the flames. The Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services released footage showing the blaze engulfing structures in the area.
“Efforts are on to douse the fire with the help of locals,” officials reported as quoted by ANI, noting that the scale of the blaze required extensive resources to bring it under control.
Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. No reports on injuries or fatalities have been released as officials continue their assessment of the damage.
