Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal's health deteriorates

NEW DELHI: Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar on Monday said that the health of Jagjit Singh Dallewal and he is feeling very weak. He further said that protests will be held from 10 am to 4 pm on December 26 at the district and tehsil levels.



Kohar also criticised the government's for its insensitivity towards farmers who are surviving on merely 27 rupees daily.

"Today, our politicians should think on why farmers, who grow crops for the entire country, are forced to agitate. Earning just 27 rupees a day, how are farmers supposed to survive?" said Kohar.

He called for a change in approach by the government towards farmers' demonstrations to ensure their wellbeing and respect.

Previously, Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar urged protesting farmer leaders to conclude their extended hunger strike on National Farmers' Day, pointing out health risks.

Jakhar during a press conference, highlighted the importance of farmer union solidarity and the necessity for productive discussions to resolve Punjab's ongoing agricultural challenges.

"It's been 27 days. Initially, no one inquired about them, but for the past 10 days, leaders have started checking on their condition. Despite their visits, no one has told them to end their fast, nor have they promised to join their struggle. Their lives are precious, and I urge them to value their lives, as this hunger strike is causing serious health damage," he said.

"The Supreme Court has already expressed its concern, and they have the power to overturn Lok Sabha decisions. The purpose of the hunger strike has been fulfilled, and it is time to conclude the protest," he added.
