Family baffled as Ludhiana woman on UK study visa deported from US

Ludhiana: The deportation of a 21-year-old woman from the US has left her family in Ludhiana baffled about US immigration rules as she had shifted to the US on Jan 1 from the UK where she had gone on a study visa after clearing IELTS in May 2024.

Muskan's father, running a shop in Ludhiana's Jagraon, had borrowed money to send her to the UK. Not knowing how to react, the family has moved out to an undisclosed location, worried about Muskan's future in case the deportation invites imposition of a travel ban on her.

Muskan has three sisters. Meanwhile, cops confirmed that the second deportee from Ludhiana, Ikkwinder Singh, has been traced to Thakkarwal village in Hoshiarpur district. ASI Dharampal said the village sarpanch had created confusion by asserting that Singh didn't belong to the village.
