A string of events marked the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at the Sabarmati Ashram on Thursday which culminated with the classical music rendition by vocalist Niraj Parekh on Thursday evening.

AHMEDABAD: A string of events marked the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at the Sabarmati Ashram on Thursday which culminated with the classical music rendition by vocalist Niraj Parekh on Thursday evening.
The ashram organized several events in the memory of Bapu in the last five days starting with the interaction and a talk by historian and author Ramchandra Guha and SEWA founder Ela Bhatt.

Besides this, there were several events for children and visitors during the next three days.
On Thursday, which was Bapu’s death anniversary, the ashram held a prayer meeting in the morning which was attended by Gujarat vidyapith chancellor Narayan Desai, vice-chancellor Sudershan Iyengar and author Rajni Bakshi.
Ashram members director Tridip Suhrud and secretary Amrut Modi were also present. Students from Vidyapith spun khadi thread on the box charkha and even taught visitors. In the evening, Bhajan sandhya was organized.
