25 dead, 6 injured in nightclub fire at Arpora, North Goa
At least 25 people lost their lives and six others were injured after a massive fire erupted shortly after midnight at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, North Goa. Police initially reported 23 fatalities, but the toll was later revised to 25. A police spokesperson stated that the deceased included four tourists and 14 staff members, while the identities of seven others are still being confirmed. Govt gives IndiGo 2 days to restore services; Rs 610 crore in refunds processed
Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha gave IndiGo only two days — instead of the 21 it sought — to fully restore operations. The airline said it plans to operate over 1,650 flights by the end of the day and assured that all refunds are being processed. According to the civil aviation ministry, refunds amounting to Rs 610 crore have already been issued following the recent IndiGo disruptions. Read full story
Hasina’s stay in India a personal decision, says EAM Jaishankar
Amid Bangladesh’s demand for her extradition, EAM S. Jaishankar said former PM Sheikh Hasina’s stay in India is her personal choice, shaped by last year’s events in Bangladesh. India has not agreed to Dhaka’s request following her recent death sentence.
