NEW DELHI: An encounter between security forces and Maoists is underway in the forests of Abujhmad, located in the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border area within Narayanpur district, police said on Monday.
A search operation is ongoing, with further details awaited.
Earlier on Sunday, four Maoists, including three women and one man, surrendered to the authorities in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, according to the police.
As per the news agency PTI, the four individuals, who collectively carried a reward of Rs 20 lakh on their heads, turned themselves in due to disillusionment with the "hollow" and "inhuman" Maoist ideology and internal conflicts within the group, said Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai.
