'Election king' files nomination in Assam
GUWAHATI: The "election king" is back in Assam and has added Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to his long list of formidable opponents.
After seeing his name entering the Guinness Book of World Records in 2004 as the person who has contested the most elections, 48-year-old K Padmarajan from Matur in Tamil Nadu's Salem district today filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha election scheduled in Assam for May 24.
1x1 polls

Singh, who represents Assam in the Upper House, is scheduled to file his papers tomorrow.
Padmarajan has a long list of opponents he faced in 81 elections. His opponents range from former Prime Ministers Atal Behari Vajpayee and P V Narasimha Rao to former President K R Narayanan.
Requiring at least 10 MLAs of Assam to back his candidature, Padmarajan, who calls himself the "all-India election king", is set to lose in this election. But he is undaunted and vowed to carry on.
His name was also entered in the Limca Book of Records in 2003 for being the world's most unsuccessful candidate in polls.
