Eight Kerala travellers killed in Nepal

According to the office of minister of state for external affairs V Muraleedharan, the deceased are Prabin Kumar (39), Sharanya (34), Ranjith Kumar T B (39), Indu Ranjith (34), Sreebhadra (9), Abhinav Surya (9), Abhi Nair (7) and Vaishnav Ranjith (2). Their dead bodies are now kept at a hospital in Kathmandu. While Praveen and family are from Thiruvananthapuram, Ranjith and family are from Kozhikode.
The members of the travel team were found unconscious at Everest Panorama resort at Daman, in Makawanpur district in Nepal in the early morning of Tuesday. They checked in at the resort at 9.30pm last night on their way back after visiting Pokhara. Though they were airlifted to Kathmandu, they were declared dead on arrival. Officials of Indian Embassy have rushed to the hospital and are coordinating with doctors there.
It is suspected that the death was due to suffocation by using the gas heater in the room. The eight of the deceased were staying in a room while seven others in the team stayed in an adjacent room.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan who condoled the death said efforts are on to bring the dead bodies back to Kerala at the earliest. The CM has directed Norka to make arrangements to bring the bodies back as early as possible.
