'Dupatta' tangle leads to death

A woman was killed when her 'dupatta' got snagged in a potato-peeling machine in the food area operated by Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Committee in Ujjain Saturday.

The deceased, Rajni Khatri (30), is survived by a 12-year-old son. Jitendra Chavre, a representative of the outsourced firm Rajni worked for, said that she had joined only 4-6 days earlier after stints at the temple's laddoo unit and in security.

She was putting potatoes in the peeler when her dupatta got entangled in the machinery and she was slammed against the machine. Other employees immediately switched off the machine, and took her to hospital, but she couldn't be saved. Ujjain collector Neeraj Singh said financial assistance will be provided to Rajni's kin. Police have filed a case.
