NEW DELHI: Continuing with experiments aimed at revamping the way it plans and functions,
Congress on Thursday set up a committee to design national agitations on important issues.
Dubbed the “committee to plan sustained agitations on national issues”, the ninemember panel is headed by veteran party functionary
Digvijaya Singh. It comprises
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Uttam Reddy, Manish Chatrath, B K Hari Prasad, Ripun Bora, Udit Raj, Ragini Nayak and
Zubair Khan.
A first in the Congress planning structure in many decades, the panel is created to focus on planning agitations on important controversial issues to be identified by the party. The need for the panel appears to have been felt because there is no dedicated body to guide the agitations as well as to see that they were executed with seriousness.
