Denied ticket, Rajasthan MP switches to Congress

Rahul Kaswan, BJP MP from Rajasthan's Churu, resigned and joined Congress on Monday, weeks after the two-term lawmaker was replaced by the saffron party with a paralympic gold medallist.

Kaswan is likely to be Congress's Churu candidate. Welcomed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, state party chief Govind Singh Dotasara in New Delhi, Kaswan said he was "feeling suffocated in BJP".

BJP denied Kaswan renomination after senior leader Rajendra Rathore accused him of sabotaging the latter's chances in 2023 assembly polls, and nominated paralympic player Devendra Jhajharia from Churu. " I felt that my voice was not being heard (in state BJP)," Kaswan said.
