Delhi Election 2025 Live Updates: Delhi riot accused Tahir Hussian gets parole to file nomination papers

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal met with the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday to discuss issues including alleged voter fraud and distribution of goods in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. Kejriwal alleged that blankets, money, and other items were distributed in Kidwai Nagar, accusing the local District Magistrate of inaction and urging the ECI to suspend him. The ECI assured action to curb these activities. Kejriwal also raised concerns about voter registration delays for AAP’s Patparganj candidate, Awadh Ojha. The ECI resolved the issue, allowing Ojha to file his nomination and cast his vote.Separately, the Delhi High Court criticised the AAP government for delaying the tabling of CAG reports in the assembly. Opposition BJP MLAs alleged that the delay was politically motivated, while the AAP government argued the assembly's tenure ending soon made tabling redundant. The court described the delays as a violation of constitutional mandates, with further hearings scheduled.Additionally, Kejriwal accused the BJP of election irregularities, including unexplained voter registrations from BJP leaders’ residences, and criticised Prime Minister Modi for not fulfilling the 2015 promise of including the Jat community in the Central OBC list. He alleged the BJP was misleading the community with empty promises. The Delhi Assembly elections are slated for February 5, with results on February 8. Key candidates include Kejriwal against BJP’s Parvesh Verma in New Delhi and Awadh Ojha against BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi in Patparganj.
