NEW DELHI: A Delhi court Thursday sentenced two people convicted in coal block allocation scam for two and three years, respectively. It also imposed Rs 70 lakh fine (Rs 10 lakh each on the two men and Rs 50 lakh on a pvt firm).
“The cheating in the case was not any ordinary cheating. Efforts of convicts were aimed at securing allocation of coal block at any cost.
They got access to a prime source of energy i.e. coal, which was a natural resource. The importance of coal need not be described in words,” it said.
