Several BJP MLAs are being considered for the Chief Minister’s post, with Parvesh Verma emerging as the frontrunner after his victory over Kejriwal. Other contenders include Satish Upadhyay, Vijender Gupta, Ashish Sood, and Rekha Gupta. However, speculation remains that the party may opt for a surprise candidate.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be a grand affair, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NDA leaders, industrialists, film stars, and cricketers, with an estimated 12,000-16,000 people in attendance.
Meanwhile, discussions on the venue continue, with Ramlila Maidan, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, and Yamuna banks under consideration.
In a key post-election initiative, BJP MLA-elect Raj Kumar Bhatia announced the start of a large-scale Yamuna cleaning drive, fulfilling the party’s poll promise. The initiative, led by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, involves trash skimmers, weed harvesters, and dredge utility craft. A four-layered strategy aims to clean the river within three years, with coordination between multiple agencies, including the Delhi Jal Board and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Bhatia expressed hope that Yamuna will be clean soon, allowing festivals like Chhath Puja to be celebrated on its banks.
