​Rajnath Singh inaugurates MRCC, RMPRC

Defence minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a new Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) and the Regional Marine Pollution Response Centre (RMPRC) of the Indian Coast Guard in Chennai on August 18. He also launched a Coast Guard Air Enclave in Puducherry remotely.

MRCC, an iconic structure

The MRCC, located near Napier Bridge in Chennai and built at a cost of Rs. 26.10 crore, will serve as an iconic structure enhancing the coordination for rescuing mariners and fishermen in distress at sea, according to a release from the ministry of defence.

​Rajnath Singh releases centenary commemorative coin

Later in Chennai, Rajnath Singh released a centenary commemorative coin in honor of former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi. The first coin was received by current chief minister MK Stalin.
