Maldives

despite the June 30 deadline set by the Abdulla Yameen government ending, amid indications that New Delhi and Male were working out a compromise formula to allow the choppers to remain in the

archipelago

at least till December.

“The two helicopters, along with the 48 personnel from the Navy and Coast Guard to fly and maintain them, are still in the Maldives. Negotiations are under way between the two governments for renewal of visas of the Indian personnel,” a government source said on Sunday.
