Court frames charges against Yasin Malik, 6 others

JAMMU: The Tada court in Jammu on Monday framed

charges

against JKLF leader Yasin Malik and others in the 1990 killing of four Indian Air Force officers, including squadron leader Ravi Khanna, and also directed the CBI to produce evidence.

The court framed charges under the Ranbir Penal Code, the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (Tada) and the Arms Act.

Charges have been framed against Yasin Malik,

Ali Mohammed Mir

, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi alias Mustafa,

Javed Ahmed Mir

alias Nalka,

Showkat Ahmed Bakshi

,

Javed Ahmed Zargar

and Nanaji alias

Saleem

.

On Saturday, the Tada court had said that there was enough prima-facie evidence to prosecute Malik for involvement in the killing of the IAF officials.

The court on September 7, 2019, had issued non-bailable warrants against Malik and others for being allegedly involved in the killings. All the accused pleaded not guilty and sought trial. The case will be listed on next hearing on March 30.
