The winning candidate replaces Pranab Mukherjee, who will demit the office on July 25.

First, the ballot box of Parliament House would be opened

Then, the ballot boxes received from states would be counted on alphabetical basis

The votes would be counted on four separate tables

There would be eight rounds of counting

Both Kovind and Kumar are from the Dalit community and have canvassed hard by visiting states to seek support of legislators.

The Presidential election on July 17 saw 100 percent polling of 11 states. A total of 771 members of Parliament and 4,109 legislators were eligible to cast votes.

The numbers are stacked in favour of the ruling coalition's nominee Ram Nath Kovind over the opposition's candidate Meira Kumar.

Close to 99 per cent voting was recorded for electing India's next president.
