Covid infections scaled another peak with 131,968 infections on Friday, another single-day highest. 780 deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile shortage of vaccines are being felt in several states. Several vaccination centres in Mumbai will remain closed today due to unavailability of vaccines. The railways on Friday said there is no plan to curtail or stop train services and assured passengers that trains will be provided on demand amidst reports of migrant workers rushing to their hometowns, reminiscent of the days following the coronavirus-triggered lockdown.
