Congress launches 'Samvidhan Bachao' rallies across India

The Congress party has announced a nationwide campaign titled ‘Samvidhan Bachao’ (Save the Constitution), with rallies scheduled to take place in all states between April 25 and 30. The initiative aims to highlight and promote the principles of social, political, and economic justice, which the party says are under threat.

AICC meeting led by Congress President Kharge

“Today, Congress President Shri Kharge held a meeting with all AICC General Secretaries, In-charges, and the Presidents of our frontal organisations. In this meeting, discussions were held on the resolution passed in Ahmedabad, Justice Path: Resolve, Dedication, Struggle,” Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said.

Organisational strengthening

“Rahul Gandhi ji has launched the ‘Organisation Creation Campaign’ in Gujarat. The aim of this campaign is to further strengthen our district presidents. Our first step will be to appoint DCC presidents, for which there will be five observers in each district. Additionally, new presidents will be appointed by 31 May,” Ramesh added.

Multi-Phase rollout of the campaign

The 'Samvidhan Bachao' campaign will be launched in multiple phases, beginning with state-level rallies from April 25 to 30. This will be followed by district-level events from May 3 to 10, and assembly-level outreach from May 11 to 17. The final leg will be a door-to-door awareness campaign from May 20 to 30.

‘Vendetta politics’ in National Herald case: Kharge

“In the recent meeting with AICC General Secretaries, In-charges, and leaders of our frontal organisations, we reflected on the developments post our historic AICC session in Ahmedabad. You all must have noticed how, under a larger conspiracy, CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Lok Sabha LoP Shri Rahul Gandhi have been named in the charge sheet of the National Herald case. But let me be clear — no matter whose name they drag in, we are not afraid,” said Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Congress leads opposition against Waqf Amendment Bill

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted the party’s role in uniting the opposition against the Waqf Amendment Bill, calling it a deliberate attempt by the government to create confusion over Waqf properties. “The Congress party brought together the entire opposition to oppose this bill. The Supreme Court is now hearing the matter, and I am glad that the Court is giving importance to the points raised by Congress and other INDIA alliance parties,” he said. He specifically pointed out the ‘Waqf by user’ clause, calling it a targeted move to stir controversy and disputes around Waqf assets.

Defending the constitution – A key message

The Congress campaign during Lok Sabha election stems from a broader narrative that gained momentum where INDIA bloc leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, accused the BJP-led central government of "destroying the Constitution", even without formally amending it.
