NEW DELHI: Former Union minister P Chidamabaram, who had formed his own party after quitting the Tamil Manila Congress, will contest from Sivaganga constituency in Tamil Nadu on the Congress ticket.
He, however, will not rejoin the party. (TMC had merged with Congress after G K Moopanar''s death.)
The Congress also announced its nominees for the five seats in the state.
1x1 polls
The five seats include Salem and Palani, where sections of the TN Congress workers have alleged that the seats had been "auctioned."
A few days ago the workers had demonstrated in front of the AICC where some women workers had threatened to immolate themselves.
The Salem seat was being demanded for a member of the Vanniyar community. However, the party has allotted it to former Union minister K V Thangkabalu.
Another TNCC member EVKS Elangovan is being fielded from Gobichettipalayam, N V S Chitan from Dindigul, J M Haroon in Periyalulam and K Rani from Rasipuram (SC).
