Chief parliamentary secretaries demand Prem Kumar Dhumal's resignation

SHIMLA: Chief parliamentary secretaries Vinay Kumar and Nand Lal demanded resignation of Prem Kumar Dhumal as leader of opposition on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in "HPCA scam" involving demolition of residential quarters meant for teachers on local government college land.
In a statement issued in Shimla, they said that the then deputy commissioner of Kangra, K K Pant, has reportedly revealed to vigilance bureau that a two-storey building comprising residential quarters of faculty of government college was razed to ground on the directions of Prem Kumar Dhumal, the then chief minister, and later, the land was encroached upon by HPCA.

Vinay Kumar and Nand Lal said that a letter reportedly written by the then deputy commissioner on May 24, 2008, to deputy director, higher education, contains reference of direct involvement of Dhumal. They questioned Prem Kumar Dhumal about why the need was felt to demolish residential quarters.
