Chidambaram hits back, says Kerala CM mustn't consider Lok Sabha polls as state election

NEW DELHI: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan came in for criticism on Sunday for his remarks on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, with former Union minister P Chidambaram saying Vijayan "should not consider the LS polls as a state election" and state leader of opposition VD Satheesan commenting that PM Narendra Modi and Vijayan are "speaking in same voice on Rahul." "I will request Pinarayi Vjayan to look at this election as a national election, which it is. Being an ally in the INDIA bloc, the CPM is fighting this election in Kerala as if it is a state election," Chidambaram told the media in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.

"From a national point of view, who is better placed to fight the BJP and form a govt in Delhi? Who is better placed to fight the BJP across India? It is obviously Congress and not CPM. CPM is literally a single state party now," Chidambaram said. tnn
