Centre announces compensation for victims of Amarnath attack

The Centre on Tuesday announced compensation of Rs 7 lakh for the next of kin of the Amarnath pilgrims killed in the Anantnag terror attack and Rs 1 lakh for the injured. A Home Ministry spokesperson said the compensation will be given to the victims of Monday's terror attack as early as possible.

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Tuesday announced compensation of Rs 7 lakh for the next of kin of the Amarnath pilgrims killed in the Anantnag terror attack and Rs 1 lakh for the injured.
A Home Ministry spokesperson said the compensation will be given to the victims of Monday's terror attack as early as possible.
Altogether, seven Amarnath pilgrims, including six women, were killed and 19 injured when terrorists attacked a bus in Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday evening.

All the victims were from Gujarat.
The attack took place when they were returning to Jammu from Srinagar in a bus, after visiting the cave shrine of Lord Shiva, located in the Himalayas.
