NEW DELHI: The CBI will soon get two additional directors, posts which have been lying vacant for some time now.
The appointments committee of the cabinet has cleared the names of J K Dutt, an IPS officer of 1971 batch, and M L Sharma, an officer of 1972 batch, for the posts.
Dutt, who belongs to the West Bengal cadre, is currently additional director-general of CISF while Sharma, a Rajasthan cadre officer, is additional DGP in the Border Security Force.
The much-sought after post of special director, however, still continues to be vacant with the government yet to take a decision on it.
Sources said that Dutt and Sharma will be taking over shortly. They will be looking after the agency''s economic offences wing and special crimes division. The work, however, will be allocated later.
Both Dutt and Sharma were in the CBI earlier. Dutt had investigated the sensational Purulia arms drop case.
