LUCKNOW: The feud between CBI director Alok Verma and his deputy
Rakesh Asthana has also brought a sharp focus on the latter's daughter's wedding in 2016, with accusations being levelled about source of expenditure on marriage functions.
Documents seized by the previous SIT set up Verma had found that Asthana allegedly used "complimentary" services for his daughter's wedding.
About 35 rooms had been booked in a Vadodra hotel on complimentary basis between
November 24 and 26 in 2016, the SIT sources says, adding that a BMW, Honda CRV were allegedly provided for travel purpose by one Sandeep Gadhvi of Sandesara family, which is under
CBI and ED lens for an alleged bank fraud The services including food catering for the sangeet ceremony, the venue of the wedding and hotel bookings.
Rooms were booked at another Vadodra hotel for just Rs 175 a night. In his letter to Central Vigilance Comission (CVC), Asthana has called this as a witch-hunt by sending officials in Gujarat to find "out anything against him".
For most part of the marriage functions, Asthana had made payments in cheques, that run into a few lakhs.
