Campaigning picks up in Uttaranchal

dehra dun: electioneering is warming up in uttaranchal with several national leaders addressing public meetings, press conferences and hurling charges at each other. the debate may get livelier in the days ahead with the arrival of top leaders just before the poll day of february 14. those expected to campaign in the next few days include prime minister atal bihari vajpayee and congress president sonia gandhi.bahujan samaj party (bsp) supremo mayawati and samajwadi party leader amar singh have already addressed public meetings in dehra dun and haldwani. for the congress, chhatisgarh chief minister ajit jogi is here at present to campaign for the party. his rajasthan counterpart ashok gehlot has already toured parts of the state. bjp leader kushabhau thakre is also here to give a boost to the party's campaign.
