Discipline yourself like a child; cultivate stillness to maintain focus and concentration in daily routines

  • Procrastination is a stressful habit.
  • How to break the habit of procrastination?
  • Create a new sanskar to break the habit of procrastination.
  • How can cultivating a habit of stillness help us overcome procrastination?
  • How to discipline the mind?

We must discipline ourselves just like we discipline a child. Instil within ourselves a sense of stillness; learn to sit still to develop a sanskar that will stay with us throughout, no matter what we do, Brahmakumari Shivani tells Mona Mehta.

‘I am distracted by something else and that’s why I am postponing what I am supposed to do right now. I will do this later; I have found something different to do right now.’ This happens because of our lack of focus and concentration. Start cultivating a habit of stillness, of sitting still, don’t start immediately with your work, it won’t happen. Basically, we have to discipline our mind, brain and body. ‘My mind, brain and body have to listen to me: ‘I, the soul, am the master of this brain and body.’
