Bottle thrown from train kills teen
A loco pilot confessed to throwing a water bottle from his running train, which struck a 14-year-old boy in the chest, killing him on the spot, on March 14, police said. The accident occurred near Shapar-Veraval in Kotda Sangani taluka when the boy, Badal Singh Godthakar, was standing near the railway track. A water bottle thrown from the train hit him in the chest and he collapsed on the spot. He was taken to a hospital, but doctors declared him "dead on arrival", police said. His father, Santosh lodged a complaint at Shapar-Veraval police station on April 1. Police reviewed CCTV footage. At Jetalsar Junction, it was confirmed that the first coach (engine) was occupied by the loco pilot and an assistant loco pilot. On interrogation, Shivram Gurjar, 31, assistant loco pilot with Western Railway, admitted to having thrown the bottle. Police arrested Gurjar and booked him for causing death by negligence, under Section 106 (1) of the BNS. tnn
